CRI Project Update/BSB Occupant's Meeting

Security Update- Leslie Kendall reported that there had been no further discussions concerning BSB security. She reiterated that BSB occupants would have input before any new security measures were implemented. BSB

Air Quality- Mac McClinton reported that Dave Dement would attend this meeting every 2 weeks in order to communicate with the residents regarding fumes and filters.

MRE Project-A meeting is schedule with Dr. Crouch to present the alternate design of the expansion of the mechanical room. It is hoped that the project can go forward after this review by Dr. Crouch.

Children's Hospital Outage - This is scheduled for the night of 2/16/02 to perform the switchover that will allow the CRI duct bank to be relocated thus permitting pile driving to proceed.

Radioactive Waste Disposal- The ramp for access to the radioactive waste storage building is complete. However, Radiation Safety will begin collecting radioactive waste in room 118 of BSB, This room is located on the old loading dock near where the service elevator opens. This should simplify the Wednesday morning pickup since occupants will no longer have to cross the construction site, nor the driveway, to reach the radioactive waste building. Leslie Kendall will e-mail occupants of BSB with further information when she receives it from Radiation Safety.

CRI- Duct bank work is continuing on the main CRI site. Two main bundles of conductors are present in the duct bank and are being checked by Sumter Utilities. One is a feeder to the Hollings Building. The other is unknown as to what it serves.

Fire doors- Leslie Kendall reported that the fire doors are being blocked open in the building. This is a serious concern to both Public Safety and the construction crew. This cannot be allowed to continue. Please be aware that if Public Safety, the Physical Plant and the construction crew will monitor the doors and will remove any objects used to block them open.

Lobby BSB - Greg Soyka, the design architect for LS3P, showed the design of the BSB lobby and staircase to the 2nd floor. Renovation of the lobby will begin in the summer of 2003. Renderings of the renovation will soon be available on the website, CRI.MUSC.EDU.

Elevators- There continues to be problems with the elevators. Jack Buchanan will call the elevator service company and report these problems.
