CRI Project Update/BSB Occupants' Meeting
March 21, 2002 BSB 120
Next meeting: March 28, 1:30 p.m., BSB 120

Infrastructure- The mechanical room expansion and the tank projects are on hold.

Pile Driving - Hank Harrison and his crew have been working overtime to complete the pile driving. Over half of the piles have been driven and there are only 139 remaining. We will probably complete the pile driving around the end of April!

Air Quality Efforts - Last week a number of suggestions were made that could help alleviate the diesel fume problems. Here is an update on those measures: the new, heavier filters and racks will be installed on the air intakes asap; the flexible exhaust extensions have been installed on the pile driver; the pile driver has been moved to the northwest corner away from the building; the mechanical engineers believe the box plenum would provide only marginal results and therefore do not recommend the construction of one; the air hammer acquisition schedule is too long-the pile driving schedule will be near completion by the time the air hammer can get here.

CRI -The March 18 outage to remove the duct bank was delayed due to a high voltage switch that needed maintenance. The outage has been rescheduled for March 26, 2002.

Concrete -105 cu/yds of concrete will be poured on Friday 3/22/02. BSB Security Issues-some occupants are concerned that the stairwell doors, once they have card readers on them and are locked, will not unlock during fire drills. They would like to be assured that in the event of a fire, the stairwell doors will unlock and all floors will be accessible.

744 days and counting!
