CRI Project
Update/BSB Occupants' Meeting A new design for the Mechanical Room Expansion is being reviewed. It may be that the MRE will be cantilevered over the existing mechanical room. This would move the proposed MRE toward BSB by about 10-12 feet. 165 out 259 piles have been driven. We expect to complete pile driving by the end of April. The duct bank will be removed late Thursday (Mar 28) or early Friday (Mar 29). Pile driving will resume on Monday (Apr 1). We would like to begin the renovation of the restroom on the second floor as soon as possible. We had hoped to postpone the renovation for about a year but now it is necessary to access the piping in the women's rooms that are slated for demolition. After the restroom renovation is complete the existing women's room will have the asbestos abated. The asbestos abatement will not affect the office (226) next to the women's room. It is expected that 226 will be available to Micro & Immunology for at least one year. The rework of the elevators in the main lobby will be performed in the last year of the project. The scope of work involves asbestos abatement, removal of the elevator jams of 1 and 2, rework of the cabs and rework of the elevator mechanical room. Two elevators will be reworked at once so that two are in operation at all times. At approximately the same time the monumental stairs and breakthrough will occur. However the breakthrough can not occur until the autoclave on the loading dock is removed and this can not happen until the tunnel wash and cage wash being installed on the seventh floor are operational. 742 days and counting!
