CRI Project
Update/BSB Occupants' Meeting Infrastructure The Mechanical Room Expansion conceptual design has been approved at the University level. The structural design is progressing. Final approval from the BAR is expected about mid July. CRI 12 Piles are left to be driven. We expect to complete pile driving on April 19, 2002. YES!!! About 100 yards of concrete will be poured next week The utilities tunnel is the next major work item on the critical path. Beginning Monday, April 22, the NW back doors to BSB will be closed to deliveries and pedestrian traffic due to the digging of the utilities tunnel. Emergency egress will be maintained. Deliveries of smaller items will be rerouted to the mail drop off point near the main BSB entrance. Larger deliveries can be coordinated with Hank Harrison at the construction site (mobile phone number 442-0292). Holox will be notified that they will need to call Hank when they arrive and he will facilitate their access to the old loading dock. The closure of the loading dock should last for two days. However, a fence prohibiting pedestrian access to the NW back doors to BSB will remain in place. We regret this inconvenience to you but the increased risk within the construction site due to the construction of the tunnel and the Mechanical Room Expansion necessitate this action. The fence will remain in place until the completion of the Mechanical Room Expansion-- this could be a year! Entrance to and exit from BSB will be from the doors located on the south side main entrance or the east side dental entrance. A gate will be installed in the area where Facilities and Engineering vehicles are parked. It is absolutely necessary that drivers of these vehicles shut the gate after every entrance and exit. The new carbon filters will be installed in the air intakes the evening of April 18, 2002. Several one-hour air handler shut downs will be necessary. No outage will last longer than one hour. The week of April 30 we would like to begin the renovation of the restrooms. The plan is to start on the restroom that is located on the southeast end of the 5th floor corridor. Abatement, cleaning, spraying back and clearance will be done in each restroom. This process will take approximately 5 days in each bathroom. After the 5th floor restroom is complete, the plan for the rest of the restrooms is as follows: 2,6,3,4,5,back to 2,finish with 7. The elevators continue to be unreliable and frightening to the building occupants. Jack Buchanan offered to contact ASK who currently holds the maintenance contract for the elevators. 721 days and counting Attendees Jack Buchanan Hank Harrison Dwayne McMillian John Brubaker Cliff Harvey Dr. Jerry Ondo Hal Currey Leslie Kendall Laura Walters Dr. Charles Darby Mac McClinton |
