Project Update/BSB Occupants’ Meeting Next meeting: September 4, 2003, 1:00 p.m., BSB 120 MRE - The chiller has been placed on the first floor. The generators and electrical equipment will be installed starting August 23, 2003 on the 3rd floor. All large pieces of equipment and pipes should be installed by the end of September. The block is continuing to go up on the outside of the building. The masonry has started on the north side. CRI -The curtain walls are proceeding on the building. Installation of glass will begin this week. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors are completely framed. The service ledge is finished on the 3rd floor and is moving up to the 4th floor. The mechanical and electrical rough-ends on the 3rd and 4th floors will follow. Lobby and 2nd floor break thru - All the sheetrock in this area has been hung. The priming of the walls will begin this week. The terrazzo floor will begin after the priming of the walls and will take about 3 weeks. Then a three-part paint process that gives the walls a layered look will be applied. The projected completion date for both lobbies is Nov 7, 2003. Construction site is off limits. Please remind new students and employees that the construction site and building is a restricted area and access is limited to escorted tours. If anyone would like a tour of the site please call Hank Harrison at 792-5921 or Leslie Kendall at 876-5021. Elevators - Several occupants are concerned about the elevators not being able to supply service to both buildings’ occupants. The elevators continue to malfunction: some elevator buttons and lights are inoperable, the horn is not ringing on all floors, one of the doors is scraping. It was suggested that the waiting station (the floor on which the elevator waits until there is a call) should be altered. Hank Harrison is going to follow up on all of these issues. In order to document all problems with the elevators, response times and what was done to fix the problems, please report all elevator malfunctions to 792-4119. Trouble calls and Housekeeping issues - Occupants continue to be dissatisfied with housekeeping service and the process by which trouble calls are handled. We are hopeful that a representative of Engineering and Facilities will attend the next meeting. Attendees - Leslie Kendall, Laura Walters, Cliff Harvey, Dr. Tom Trusk, Hank Harrison, Peggy Schachte, Dr. Tim Fitzharris |
