CRI Project Update/BSB Occupants' Meeting

CRI More Asbestos Abatement: Asbestos abatement continues on the 2nd floor. The restroom renovations on the 2nd and 6th floor have been completed. Restrooms on the 7th floor will be completed within the next week (Leslie Kendall will get soap dispensers for the contractor to install) and at that time asbestos abatement will take place on the 7th floor breakthrough. Then the 7th and 6th floor restrooms at the break through will be permanently removed.

Air Handling Unit: Dr Schwartz's lab on the 2nd floor is still having problems with fumes from the construction site. The filters were changed last week, which should help. Dave Dement reported that this lab gets air from three different intakes. There is an air intake above the window that Dave Dement will close and then he will tap into the supply duct to reroute the intake. .

Elevators: Presently, there is only one elevator working. The recent attempts to repair the elevators have failed. On 8/27/02 a mechanic from Georgia will arrive to work on #24, #25 is the only operable elevator in the main lobby. Of course, there are two elevators at the dental end of the building. Monday, September 2nd the other two elevators will start the upgrade process and will be out of service for six to eight weeks. When these two are completed, #24 & #25 elevators will be taken out of service for upgrade. At this point we have no choice but to put up with this inconvenience. Work is being performed on the elevators and the final upgrade has been moved forward in the schedule to make all of the elevators operable as soon as possible.

Update: two elevators are working fairly well. The upgrade on the other two has begun.

Foundation-- The last pour of the foundation should be completed this week. The precast planks will be set and then the steel will be erected beginning in November. By the end of the year, the steel framework should be standing.

Update: the project lost 9 days due to the rain and the clean up from the rain last week, but the project as a whole remains on schedule.

MRE - The drawings for the building are finished and being reviewed by the state engineer. The civil package is being completed. Air quality modeling and boiler permit application are in progress. The tunnel completion work is currently being priced.

Loading dock - It will be necessary to make some changes to the location of the temporary truck dock. The bridge will be relocated to the east and covered by a roof. The dumpster and the clean red carts will have to be relocated.

Update: Additional information on this will be presented to the occupants in the Sept 5th meeting.

In the next meeting we would like to present the work schedule of the second floor stairwell and lobby area. There are many details to be worked out and discussed with the occupants. Please try to attend if possible. .
