CRI
Project Update/BSB Occupants’ Meeting Next meeting: August 21, 2003, 1:00 p.m., BSB 120 MRE - The structural steel system is complete; rough-ins for piping and electrical are proceeding; masonry has begun on the north side. The mechanical equipment will be delivered 9/15/03 and the electrical equipment on 9/19/03. The next challenges are the routing of the ‘B’ feeder and installation of the gas service on Bee Street. Pacing the MRE so that all services are available when needed for the CRI is a challenge. CRI - Work is in progress to complete the finished spaces (floors 1-4 and 7). Only the base contract work is proceeding on 5 and 6 until the NIH C06 grant is awarded (expected no later than 9/30/03). Work on the roof is in full swing-- piping, rough-ins, plenum and ductwork, stucco installation, and the exhaust system. The animal facility on the 7th floor is in progress. TH Chang, the animal facility designer, will be here August 21-22, 2003 to inspect the work. On August 26, Randy Mosley, with Techiplast, will meet with the engineers to discuss installation of the cage racks. Thanks to Dr. Swindle and Dexter Wilson for providing Techiplast contact information. Lobby and 2nd floor break through areas continue to be a challenge. The topping slab is complete and the drywall work is proceeding. The monumental stair, elevator work, and finishes are progressing. We hope to turn over a completely renovated lobby by mid-September. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this particularly difficult aspect of this project. Elevators - The work on the elevators is complete except for the flooring. All elevators should be operating by Friday, August 15 (although there continues to be no access from the first floor due). Elevator malfunctions should be reported to the Facilities and Engineering Help Desk at 792-4119. We will request the help of Robert Simmons (F&E’s Elevator) with help in routing, monitoring and follow-up of all trouble calls regarding the elevators. It is important that malfunctions are reported to the Help Desk so that an accurate log can be kept. Robert and Tanis Manseau will be invited to the next Occupants’ Meeting to discuss elevator issues. BSB Housekeeping - A number of complaints regarding housekeeping in BSB were aired during this meeting. Tanis Manseau and Julie Fesseden (the new Building Engineer) will attend the next Occupants’ Meeting to discuss these issues. Attendees
- Mac McClinton,
Leslie Kendall, Laura Walters, Cliff Harvey, Dr. Tom Trusk, Dr. Jim
Goodrich, Dwayne McMillian, Hal Currey and Hank Harrison |
